I know many of you would think that using the word “Professional” to describe Frigidaire cooking appliances would be a misnomer, but I am hear to refute that mindset and show you that Frigidaire appliances offer much more than “landlord specials”.
I’ve been told that on Mother’s Day Frigidaire will introduce their new “Professional” cooking line, complete with a new logo and new SKU’s to round out their appliance line.
I don’t expect those who are shoppng for a Sub-Zero refrigerator or Wolf stove to pay much heed to this, but for those who want to spend significantly less, yet still land that professional loking kitchen, this may be the ticket.

This article from CNBC states that Americans are
redefining luxury in many places, appliances included.
Case in point – sales data shows that Americans
are dropping microwaves and air conditioners from their
lists of necessary items. I’m not seeing that.
Micros can be had for under $100 in this day. And if the recent warm weather continues in the Northeast, air conditioners will fly out of showrooms.
Here are the appliances that I’m seeing dropped from orders or no longer being priced in the first place:
Was just talking to someone about GE Monogram ranges and it reminded me what a great deal they are.
- Built to last
- Recent design changes make the GE Monogram pro ranges look more like something that belongs in a kitchen as opposed to a tank.
- Porcelain racks in the oven are a great idea – this way you don’t have to remove them during self-clean mode as you would with stainless racks.
- Double stacked burners. Each burner allows you to go from 15k btu’s down to 140 btu’s (natural gas version).
All we need from Monogram is a gas-on-gas range, then…watch out.
Scanning the market for a front load washer and dryer, if you’re looking for price + performance it would be hard to look past GE front load washers and dryers. They’ve always been priced lower than LG, Whirlpool and Electrolux, and now they’ve closed the gap performance-wise with the inclusion of models that use steam. Hey, didn’t I write abou that already?
GE Profile front load washers and dryers certainly deliver the goods. They have received relatively high rankings by that “leading consumer magazine” and considering the vast amount that we’ve sold, I’ve rarely if ever heard a complaint.
The Energy-star certified WCVH6800JMRboasts 4.0 cu ft for a washer.
The step down piece is the WBVH5300kww which has a load-sensing function to match water amount with the load.
The new models are the WPDH8800JMV which is slightly larger at 4.2 cu ft and has the SmartDispense technology where the pedastel dispenses up to 6 months of detergent and fabric softener.
The WPDH8900is their first washer to offer steam and that is matched with the DPVH890EJ which has steam as well.
Just received a marketing kit for the new Electrolux french door refrigerators. Mmmhhmmm…yummy!
Did you know…
- There are 4 models and 2 sizes – 23 cu ft and 28 cu ft
- The 28 cu ft model has the most capacity in the business. Take that Samsung!
- All refrigerators are Star-K certified
- The ice maker offers 9lbs of ice in 24 hours
- Perfect Temp drawer offers 15 different temp setting so you can safely store everything from fish to cheese to wine.
- Gallon + door bins
- A wine rack is available on Wave-touch models
Enough said…sit back and enjoy this promotional video and repeat after me…there is no french door refrigerator other than an Electrolux french door refrigerator….there is no french door refrigerator other than an Electrolux French door refrigerator…
Consumers toss 50% of fruits, vegetables and meats due to improper storage. This loss equals $14 a week or $700 per year. Sub Zero’s preservation system helps prevent half the waste.
The refrigerent in SubZero refrigerators is non-ozone depleting.
SubZero recycles all scrap plastics and metals at the factory. No waste!
Almost all shipping materials are recyclable
SubZero has alloted land next to factory to Univ of Wisconsin students to cultivate an organic vegetable farm.
Sub-Zero manufacturing processes produce no wastewater and they recover all refrigerant.
9 SubZero models are Energy Star rated. All others miss the rating by a narrow $1-$6 per year.
75% of stainless steels and up to 50% of the plastics in SubZero products are made from recyclable materials
They drive electric vehicles in the SubZero factory!
The posts on Bosch refrigerators have garnered a healthy response so I wanted to share some more info for you.
Bosch Integra Refrigerator Columns – ByeBye
We’ve beaten this one to death but I thought it should be repeated.
The only remaining refrigerators in the Integra line will be a Stainless french door model, one coming with a frame, one without. These are cabinet depth.
Bosch Linea Refrigerators
The Linea line of Bosch refrigerators started gaining some buzz back last summer and right now it looks like they are about to roll onto dealer showroom floors.
Here’s a peek:
The Linea model is a counter depth, side by side model with dispenser on the outside. Model number is B22CS80SNS
The Magna model is a 25 cu ft standard depth, French-door refrigerator.
Model number is B25FT70SNS
Here is the latest on the Bosch Integra refrigeration, updated after a phone call with a rep from their appliance division.
- Bosch Integra refrigeration columns are discontinued. Gone. Finished. Kaput. Aint comin’ back. SEE YA!!!!!
- However, Bosch will still produce 2 variations of Integra fridges. They are both French door models, stainless, and will be available with and without a frame. The frame point is the difference btw the models.
The frame will allow you to use the refrigerator in a built-in style (flush), akin to a SubZero. If you don’t buy the frame, then it’s a counter-depth unit.
THEY ARE NOT MAKING FREESTANDING MODELS UNDER THE INTEGRA LINE.
As of 4.09.09, Bosch’s web site has not been updated with this information. They are still showing columns as well as a bottom freezer Integra refrigerator unit.
Here is MAP pricing, which means if the dealer is worth any salt, you’ll get it for less.

Please remember that PACS is designed to be an out of the box solution for the majority of common installations.
Had to do a post on this piece…while 2008 and the beginning of 2009 have proven to be tough shakes for appliance manufacturers, the GE Cafe 30″ gas range – CGS980SEMSS – has proven to be an absolute rock star. GE actually couldn’t have times the introduction any better – just as the economy was starting to slow up, here comes a cooking range which gives off a pro look, sports some pro features, but comes in THOUSANDS of dollars lower than other pro cooking appliances by brands I won’t name hear. Look at the features:
- Self cleaning oven
- 18K BTU power burnerand a 150F degree simmer burner
- PreciseAir convection system means accurately baked foods in a gas oven.
- Super-large capacity in the oven
- Warming drawer offers an addition 1.0 cu ft for baking 140 – 450 degrees.
Considering the MSRP on the CGS980SEMSS is $2899 and it typically sells in the mid-$2000 area, compare that with other 30″ gas ovens that are in the pro category. I won’t name names folks, you’ve been shopping around, so you know the models. The CGS980SEMSS reviews very well, also considering that customers have done nothing but rave about the piece.
